Irfan Pathan's struggles- Who is responsible?

Irfan Pathan is currently struggling in the Indian cricket team

Irfan Pathan seems to reflect the song 'I am half the man I used to be'

Irfan Pathan is struggling in both bowling and batting departments and should count himself lucky to be in the Indian cricket team for the World cup cricket tournament

The Irfan Pathan mess - Who is really responsible?

Irfan Pathan seems to been made the scapegoat in a political mess. Who can explain the "sudden" drop of form, just days after Irfan Pathan landed a hattrick against the Pakistan cricket team

Who is responsible for the Irfan Pathan debacle- Could it be the same person who made Sourav Ganguly miss an important year of international cricket?

Irfan Pathan's struggles - Why dont the senior cricket players speak up

Irfan Pathan is one of the victims as a result of the frequent experimentation in the Indian cricket team in terms of the batting order, the bowling sequence and the team selection

Why dont the Indian senior players like Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid speak up against this stupid experimentation- Imagine if Sachin's new batting order is going to cut short his cricketing career!

My take on Irfan Pathan's so-called loss of form

Irfan Pathan is primarily a swing bowler and is deadly in the initial overs of a cricket match especially with the ball that curves into the middle stump from outside off.

Irfan was robbed of his opening bowling status and when he started bowling with less venom, the Indian cricket coach started criticizing Irfan Pathan in public and in the press. This criticism has obviously psychologically demoralized Irfan Pathan and led him to a downward spiral in international cricket

The moral of the Irfan Pathan story:Get rid of this cricket quack in charge of the Indian cricket team before he does any more damage to young cricketers

Greg Chappell-The Damage Guru Greg has caused Indian cricket

Greg Chappell has scarred the Indian cricket team

Greg Chappell's experimentation theory has damaged the careers of several members of the Indian cricket team

Greg Chappell's coaching seems to suggest that no Indian cricket player is secure in the Indian cricket team, even if the Indian cricket player is secure,he has no clue which batting number he will be batting at

Greg Chappell can take his experimentation elsewhere

When talking about Greg Chappell's experimentation, Kapil Dev said it best- Greg is free to take his experimentation elsewhere, but Greg should leave the Indian cricket team out of it

Greg Chappell does not practice the Australian way, either

Greg Chappell knows that the Australian cricket team hardly ever changes the batting order or the core Australian cricket team. Gilchrist has been opening the Australian cricket team's batting for ages and Ponting has always been playing at number 3 in the Australian cricket team

Whose side is Greg Chappell on when he makes these stupid changes in the Indian batting order?

Have you forgotten Greg Chappell's nastiness?

Greg Chappell has survived despite his inherent nastiness

  • Greg Chappell uttered nasty statements against Sourav Ganguly and mentioned that Sourav is playing solely for money

  • Greg Chappell's dirty gesture at Calcutta will not be forgotten

Greg Chappell survives due to the inherent niceness of the Indian cricket fan and the apathy of Indian cricket board

Dhoni should open for the Indian cricket team

Dhoni should open the batting for the Indian cricket team

Dhoni is the right person to open the batting for the Indian cricket team. Dhoni has the ability to thrash the opposition in the initial Power Play overs and is the right candidate to open the Indian cricket team's innings.

Dhoni opening for the Indian cricket team ensures that Dhoni gets the maximum number of overs

The best criteria to decide who should open the innings is that the best batsmen of the team should open and Dhoni is currently the batsman in the Indian cricket team with the best strike rate and the best average.

Dhoni is also ranked No. 3 in the ICC cricket rankings and rankings are usually a good criteria in determining the best batsman of the innings

Sehwag-The importance of being Viru of Indian cricket

Sehwag-the importance of being Viru of the Indian cricket team

Sehwag is repeatedly being selected in the Indian cricket team for his "superhuman match winning skills".Is this hope of Sehwag putting up a match winning score justified to keeping him in the Indian cricket team indefinitely

Sehwag is another of the long procession of the Indian cricket team's superstars

Sehwag and the triumph of individual cricketing talent in the Indian cricket team

Sehwag epitomizes the importance of the "hero syndrome" affecting the idolizing Indian cricket spectators, selectors and other cricket followers

Before Sehwag, there was Sachin Tendulkar, before Sachin there were Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev-For every success, these Indian cricket stars like Sehwag are treated like Gods and dumped after every failure

Sehwag's importance and New Zealand's success

In comparison to Sehwag's individual talent, no one in the New Zealand cricket team has had super talent, apart from maybe Richard Hadlee, but the New Zealand cricket team has been reasonably successful in world cricket

There seems to be a virtue in not having great talent and the expectations the talent leads itself to

Australian cricket on the decline?

Australian cricket team on the decline?

The Australian cricket team has lost the number 1 position in world cricket. Recently, the Australian cricket team has lost three consecutive one day international cricket matches to the England cricket team and two one day international cricket matches to the New Zealand cricket team

Australian cricket team has too many old players?

Suggesting that the Australian cricket team has too many oldies is the most ridiculous argument for the reasons the Australian cricket team is on the decline

The Australian cricket team should take succour in the return and success of Ganguly and other so-called old guys in the Indian cricket team. The Australian cricket board knows that there is no substitute to a winning cricket combination and it would be stupid to remove the few
"old" (read: experienced ) players left in the Australia

The Australian cricket team misses Warne,Martyn and a super fit McGrath

The Australian cricket team obviously misses Warne and Martyn, but what the Australian cricket team really misses is a really fit McGrath to inspire fear in the opposition batsmen. While McGrath is set to play his last cricket series in the cricket World cup for the Australian cricket team, McGrath needs to bowl with the same old venom- glimpses of which were seen in the recent Ashes cricket test series

In summary, the Australian cricket team may be on the decline, but has the mental strength to bounce back in the cricket world cup

Kapil Dev's indomitable spirit-The Indian cricket team needs this

Kapil Dev-The greatest Indian cricketer ever

Kapil is,without a doubt, the greatest cricketer the Indian cricket team has ever produced

Kapil Dev's intense passion for the Indian cricket team, the dedication Kapil Dev showed, and his raw talent have no parallel in Indian cricket history

Kapil Dev- the world cup cricket tournament brings nostalgic memories

Kapil Dev was the Indian cricket' team's icon during the cricket World cup in 1983. Kapil Dev's catch of Vivian Richards and his 183 not out against Zimbabwe were the lasting images of the cricket World cup in 1983

Kapil Dev says "no" to stupid experimentation by Greg Chappell

Kapil Dev retains his passion for Indian cricket even after he has retired from international cricket. In a recent interview, Kapil Dev said that Greg Chappell is free to do his experimentation but not with
"his" Indian cricket team. The Indian cricket team needs a coach or manager who understands the Indian psyche or culture- not an Australian misfit who was not even a good coach for South Australia

A Kapil Dev like inspiring leader is needed for the Indian cricket team - not a goody-goody person like Dravid!

"Rahul Dravid is not a great ODI cricket player"

Is Rahul Dravid a truly great ODI cricket player

"Rahul Dravid is not a good one day international cricket player"-This quote about Rahul Dravid was attributed to a former Indian cricketing great

In the years from 1996-2002,Rahul Dravid struggled in one day international cricket. Rahul Dravid could never find the gaps and often was guilty of either playing perfect defence or hitting the ball too hard, and unable to rotate the strike

Rahul Dravid is a truly great ODI player today

The greatness of Rahul Dravid is that he is now debatably one of the best one day international cricket players in the world. The great players like Rahul Dravid are not the ones who,by nature, excel at a certain type of game, but those who adapt and change their game to suit the requirements

Rahul Dravid- a player of many shades today

Rahul Dravid nowadays excels at consolidating the Indian cricket innings during the initial overs, rotating the strike during the middle overs and slogging the cricket ball all over the park during the end overs. Rahul Dravid is in short, a truly complete and great ODI cricket player

Rahul Dravid's improvement in ODI cricket

A look at Rahul Dravid's statistics over the years will show a marked improvement in his strike rate as the years progress and a reasonably good batting average. Rahul Dravid may have scored only 10,000 runs in ODI cricket, which is not a record compared to his peers such as Sachin Tendulkar, but his contributions in tight situations has been incredible and Indian cricket will always be proud of Rahul Dravid's achievements

Rahul Dravid - Three cheers to Rahul Dravid on completing 10,000 runs in ODI cricket

Sri Lankan cricket team set to win cricket world cup?

The Sri Lankan cricket team has a good chance of winning the cricket world cup

The Sri Lankan cricket team has a great opportunity of repeating their 1996 World cup cricket win

  • The Sri Lankan cricket team has a great balance of experience and youth at the top of the order(Jayasurya and Tharanga)

  • Spin and Pace Bowlers (Muralitharan and Vaas)

  • Attacking opening batsmen(Tharanga and Jayasurya)

  • Technically perfect middle order batsmen(Sangakarra,Atapattu)

The Sri Lankan cricket team has the best wicket taking spin bowler in the world in Muralitharan and the most economical bowler in Vaas

In summar, the Sri Lankan cricket team seems to be the most balanced cricket team in the cricket world cup

But of course,
good international cricket teams have lost before in the cricket World cup!

Sehwag not dropped from Indian cricket team-the much hyped matchwinner

Sehwag has been selected for the Indian cricket team for the cricket World cup

Sehwag has been chosen in the Indian cricket team for the cricket World cup in the West Indies. The Indian cricket selectors chose experience over recent performance by selecting Sehwag,Agarkar,Yuvraj ahead of special players such as Ramesh Powar

Sehwag-the much hyped cricket matchwinner for the Indian cricket team

Sehwag has been selected in the Indian cricket team despite his recent poor performances.Ostensibly,Sehwag has been selected since he is a "matchwinner" and can win a cricket match for the Indian cricket team , by virtue of his own performance

I am not disputing that Sehwag is a matchwinner, but I would like to question the number of chances given to Virendra Sehwag compared to other players in the Indian cricket team. Compared to Sehwag,Joginder Singh, for example, was recently given only one cricket match to prove himself and was summarily chucked out

Compared to Sehwag, even Ganguly was given fewer chances and even thrown out of the team, that too after a good showing against the Pakistan cricket team

Well, lets hope that Sehwag does justice to the faith imposed by the selectors and scores during the cricket world cup

England will win the cricket World cup!

England cricket team may win the cricket World cup- We reiterate England's chances

The England cricket team have done a great job of reaching the finals of the tri-nation cricket series, involving Australia and New
Zealand. The England cricket team have a good chance of winning the cricket World cup in the West Indies.

The England cricket team is well balanced and has quite a few matchwinners

The England cricket team has good batsmen in Collingwood and Bell, good bowlers in Harmison and Panesar and a great allrounder in
Andrew Flintoff.

The England cricket team has two batting matchwinners in Flintoff and Pieterson

In the England cricket team for the cricket World cup,Flintoff,Collingwood and Pieterson are key potential matchwinners who can score at more than a run a ball.Apart from Flintoff and Pieterson, the England
cricket team also has Bell and Collingwood who are currently in great form and can make an impact in the cricket World cup in the West Indies

The England cricket team needs to be more creative in their cricketing strategies

Strategy is a weak area for the England cricket team in one day international cricket matches. For example, the England cricket team needs to look
at moving either or both Flintoff and Pieterson up the order to exploit the Power Play overs. Also,Yardy is a promising find for the England cricket
team and the England cricket team need to consider having two genuine spinners in Yardy and Monty Panesar, rather than the ineffectual
Giles or Dalrymple

In summary, the England cricket team has an ideal combination for the cricket World cup, it just needs to get its confidence and strategy in place

VVS Laxman dropped again from Indian cricket team

VVS Laxman has been dropped for the India Vs Sri Lanka one day international cricket series

Why is VVS Laxman always the fall guy in the Indian cricket team? Its quite amazing that VVS Laxman has been repeatedly treated so badly by the Indian cricket selectors

VVS Laxman was promoted to vice captain of the Indian cricket team just a couple of months back in the last one day international against South Africa, but amazingly, the Indian cricket selectors have decided to insulted him by dropping him for the cricket World cup, without even giving him a chance

VVS Laxman 's dropping from the Indian cricket team is good news for Australia and bad news for the Indian cricket team

VVS Laxman 's axing from the Indian cricket team is probably being celebrated by the Australian cricket team, who fear Mr. Very Very Special Laxman more than anyone else in the cricketing world.

VVS Laxman has produced at least four incredible knocks for the Indian cricket team against the Australian cricket team and the Australian cricket team respects his batting abilities

Why is only VVS Laxman criticized for his fielding in the Indian cricket team?

VVS Laxman is the Indian cricket team's best slip fielder and his abilities will be very useful to the Indian cricket team at least in the first 20 overs. Why is only VVS Laxman's slip fielding criticized? What about Munaf Patel and Sreesanth- probably the Indian cricket team's worst fielders in almost a decade

VVS Laxman being dropped from the Indian cricket team is only a witch-hunt against nice guys

Nice guys like VVS Laxman dont protest after being treated badly by the Indian cricket team- no wonder people like VVS Laxman are made the scapegoat by the Indian cricket authorities and selectors,so that Greg Chappell sycophants like Suresh Raina are always given a chance in the Indian cricket team

Suffice to say, not selecting VVS Laxman is the biggest blow to Indian cricket

Cricket Australia will never choose a foreign cricket coach!

Cricket Australia will never choose a foreign cricket coach

Cricket Australia has just announced the appointment of Nielson as coach of the Australian national cricket team. Nielson was formerly Buchanan's assistant coach and played eight seasons for the South Australia cricket team

The Australian cricket team will always select an Australian cricket coach

Cricket Australia always selects an Australian as a national cricket coach, which believes in the 'Australian way' of playing cricket. There is no jingoism attached to selecting an Australian as the national coach, its just that Cricket Australia has selected a coach who understands cricket and also the Australian way of playing cricket.

Why don't Indian cricket selectors select Indian cricket coaches

The Indian cricket selectors are stupid enough to select foreign coaches who dont understand Indian and Asian culture. John Wright was smarter and quickly adapted himself to the Indian methods of coaching and motivation. Greg Chappell of course is a real failure, and has found it really hard to shed the Australian way, which is not accepted in India,in fact,Greg Chappell does not even seem to be trying

Cricket coaching is more about managing and motivation, not teaching

As Kapil Dev recently said, the job of a cricket coach is to motivate the cricket team,do you really think Greg 'Guru' or anybody else can advise a Sachin Tendulkar or a Rahul Dravid on playing the cover drive. The successful multinational corporations of the world believe in the 'Glocal' school of management- act local but think Global. You need to adopt the best global management practices but customize it to local culture.Pity,Greg Chappell has not taken any management classes. The end result - A struggle for the Indian cricket team who pretend to listen to the self-styled Guru Chappell and then smirk behind Chappell's back

Ramesh Powar dropped.How Unfair!

Ramesh Powar
Originally uploaded by indiafotos.

Ramesh Powar has been dropped for the India Vs Sri Lanka cricket series

In an incredibly unfair decision, the Indian cricket selectors have dropped Ramesh Powar from the Indian cricket team. Dropping Ramesh Powar is a case of selecting the team for the cricket World cup in advance by keeping a key player out

Ramesh Powar-Are the Indian cricket selectors afraid to select Ramesh Powar?

Ramesh Powar has performed better than both Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh in any cricket one day international where Ramesh Powar has played in tandem with one of these great spinners.

Is it that Ramesh Powar has no place in the Indian cricket team since the Indian cricket selectors have already selected the team for the cricket World cup ? How very unfair to drop Ramesh Powar- India's best performing spinner

Ramesh Powar's fault- he is not flamboyant?

Ramesh Powar is not flamboyant or smart- he does his job of off-spin bowling extremely well, but does not give controversial television interviews or mocks the opposing batsmen like some of the so-called new generation bowlers such as Sreesanth.

That is probably Ramesh Powar's tragedy- he is not a larger than life figure, who is suited for many advertisements. There is no appreciation these days for a person like Ramesh Powar who only does his job extremely well

Ramesh Powar should be in Indian cricket team

Ramesh Powar should be in the Indian cricket team for the World cup cricket tournament

Ramesh Powar is being treated as only the possible third Indian spinner for the World cup cricket tournament

Why is Ramesh Powar treated in this way by the Indian selectors and the Indian think-tank?Time and again, Ramesh Powar has proved his worth, and repeatedly the Indian selectors have two-timed this energetic cricket performer.

Ramesh Powar is India's best one day international spinner

Surprised ? But really, Ramesh Powar has been India's best one day international spin bowler for some time now. Ramesh Powar is the best spinner based on recent statistics-GameCricket.com's fans are aware that GameCricket.com's statements are based on actual statistical data and not hype

In recent matches,Ramesh Powar has almost always performed better than Harbhajan Singh and Anil Kumble. Without taking anything away from Harbhajan and Kumble,Ramesh Powar to vary the flight of the ball and his ability to grab wickets are quite brilliant. Ramesh Powar has proved his worth in the West Indies, in the DLF cup ,in the Champions Trophy and now again against the West Indies cricket team

Ramesh Powar is not flamboyant but effective

Ramesh Powar may not have the Australian lean muscular body that the cricketers who are queuing to the gym seem to be craving for- but Ramesh Powar does an effective job for the role he has been selected for. Ramesh Powar takes his catches and bowls an effective line to the batsmen and takes wickets, after all ,isn't that his job?

Hope the Indian selectors are not cruel to Ramesh Powar and drop him for not being 'slim'
