Malcolm Speed,ICC cricket CEO,Good Riddance

Malcolm Speed , good riddance

Andrew Miller, writes in Cricinfo magazine that the ousting of Malcolm Speed as ICC CEO is an admission of the factionalism in the ICC

I am glad to see Malcolm Speed go as ICC CEO

Malcolm Speed has often be seen to be partisan and has made almost as many gaffes as Ray Mali.

Malcolm Speed may have had issues with the BCCI, but that didnt mean that he could make nasty , gloating comments about India and the inability for a country with a population of 1 billion to win the cricket World cup..

I may not be a great fan of the BCCI, but Malcolm Speed, as ICC CEO, was far worse- Malcolm Speed 's nasty comments don't exactly inspire any confidence about his leadership skills and people from the subcontinent are bound to view Malcolm Speed , as more of a representative of England & Australia cricket boards

A CEO needs to be at least seen to be bi-partisan, but Malcolm Speed 's nasty comments about India did let the cat out of the bag about his biased views

Goodbye and good riddance to Malcolm Speed, his seven years as ICC CEO, have resulted in the ICC organization being reduced to a toothless organization, viewed with suspicion by every cricket playing country of the cricket world

Shaun Tait,cricket 's latest chucker?

Winding Up - Shaun Tait
Originally uploaded by *Scottyo*

Does Shaun Tait, the latest of the cricket world's fast bowlers chuck?

Shaun Tait is the latest fast bowler to be tainted by accusations of chucking. After Shoaib Akhtar, Brett Lee and umpteen other fast bowlers before him, Shaun Tait has been accused of chucking

Daniel Vettori has indirectly accused Shaun Tait of chucking

Whether Shaun Tait actually chucks is a matter of conjecture- we mere mortals (read : cricket fans ) will never know the answer.

Daniel Vettori may just be displaying gamesmanship by calling attention to Shaun Tait 's action before the Australia Vs New Zealand cricket series.

The ICC will never ban Shaun Tait for chucking

The ICC has clearly almost allowed every cricket bowler to chuck by their insipid cricket administration and Shaun Tait will be just another bowler to face some temporary criticism before being allowed to get back to his old bowling action

Shoaib Akhtar and Brett Lee have been chucking , at least on their special fast yorkers for ages, and it will be unfair of the ICC to impose any ban on a young bowler like Shaun Tait after the precedence set by Shoiab Akhtar and Brett Lee

Did I say that Shaun Tait chucks? Well., neither will the ICC!

Greg Chappell 's big mouth blabbers more

Greg Chappell continues with his hypocritical ways and his ability to talk crap

Greg Chappell has an expert ability to be political and hypocritical

In a recent outburst, Greg Chappell spewed more venom on his latest victims , the Indian "senior" players. Greg Chappell blamed the BCCI's selection of the "senior" players the main cause of India's defeat at the World cup cricket tournament 2007

In fact, Greg Chappell says he was sure that the Indian cricket team would lose even before the team left for the cricket World cup.So much for Greg Chappell's man management skills!

Greg Chappell also poured more venom on the "Indian cultural mindset" by saying that Saurav Ganguly expected a lot in return for recommending a snake like Greg Chappell

Despite Saurav Ganguly great leadership capabilities and people management capabilities, Saurav Ganguly obviously had to pay the price for recommending a snake like Greg Chappell to be Indian cricket coach and doing the Indian cricket world such as disfavor

Greg Chappell is sure of one thing, it is never Greg Chappell 's fault

Greg Chappell is never at fault, it is always someone else's fault for this so-called "guru". Sometimes, Greg Chappell finds the BCCI as the villain, at times it is the Indian selection panel and nowadays the flavor of the month is the Indian senior cricket players

Greg Chappell is so un-Australian in nature

Its absolutely wrong to classify Greg Chappell as personifying the "Australian way of playing cricket". The Australian way of playing cricket is to be open, honest and blunt in all talk and taking every decision.

"Blaming others all the time" is only the Chappell way, not the Australian way!

Was Shane Warne the greatest legspinner ever?

Was Shane Warne the great legspinner to have played cricket

Shane Warne was undoubtedly a great legspinner but was he the greatest? Certainly, a lot of young Australians do think that Shane Warne was the best legspinner ever, but older Australian cricket fans do think that Richie Benaud may have been a better legspinner

Some think Shane Warne was not as good as Chandrasekhar of the India cricket team

Chandra or Chandrasekhar evoked as much respect as Shane Warne among the opposing batsmen. To compare Shane Warne and Chandra is obviously unfair, given that the two bowlers were so different.Shane Warne was a traditionally legspinner who liked to give the ball a lot of air while Chandra was almost a fast bowler and tended to skid the ball through.Viv Richards among other great cricketers respected the leg spin bowling of Chandra to a great extent

Was Shane Warne better than Abdul Qadir of the Pakistan cricket team

Abdul Qadir was undoubtedly responsible for the revival of traditional leg spin bowling in the subcontinent and his google was incredible, but it is debatable whether he was as good as Shane Warne

Shane Warne was definitely the greatest legspinner in his time

In summary,Shane Warne was of course the greatest legspinner among his contemporaries, and cricket statistics do not lie, but there were other great legspinners prior to Shane Warne's time who were really great too!

VVS Laxman being victimized by Indian cricket selectors?

Is VVS Laxman being victimized by the Indian cricket selectors?

Apart from VVS Laxman, we have seen comebacks from most of India's veteran stalwarts such as Anil Kumble and Saurav Ganguly in India's one day international cricket team.

Why isnt Laxman being allowed to make a comeback to the Indian cricket team?

Laxman has been India's great cricket warrior- even apart from the famous 281 not out against Australia, he has played some incredible test and one day cricket innings.

  • Laxman has partnered Sachin and Dravid in four 250+ partnerships against Australia

  • Laxman hit three one day international cricket series against Australia and Zimbabwe in one week.

  • In India's recent tour of South Africa, Laxman hit critical knocks, often batting with the Indian cricket team's tail, to help the Indian cricket team to a respectable draw.

Laxman not selected for bad fielding? How stupid

Laxman has officially not been selected because of his bad fielding.Laxman is one of the Indian cricket team's best close fielders-doesnt the Indian cricket team at least need one good close-in fielder in Laxman at least in the initial stages of the game?

Shane Warne to Mike Gatting Video-Tribute to Warne

Shane Warne to Mike Gatting Video- The greatest ball in test cricket?

A tribute to Shane Warne who is retiring from Test cricket after the Sydney test against the England cricket team in the last Ashes test.

Shane Warne bowled this ball to Gatting - which has amazed all fans of test cricket over the years. Mike Gatting was really one of the better players of spin bowling in the world- Gatting had tamed the Indian leg spinner L.Sivaramakrishnan to hand England a series win against India.

This ball from Shane Warne had Gatting dumbfounded -Was it possible to bowl such a perfect ball in test cricket?

Ashes 2006 won by Australia-as predicted by GameCricket.com

The Ashes cricket test series has been won by Australia-The Ashes test series score is 4-0 so far and will probably get to 5-0 in favor of Australia.

You should have read GameCricket.com's prediction of the Ashes cricket series,2006 - You wouldnt have then been surprised at the performance of the Australian cricket team against England.

Why exactly did England lose the Ashes cricket series against Australia?

  • Ashes Loss reason 1 :

The Stresscothick incident: Threscothick was England's best opening batsman for the Ashes cricket series against Australia- To come to Australia for the Ashes cricket series and then decide not to play was most unprofessional of Threscothick, irrespective of his personal problems. I dont call for being jingoistic, but citing personal problems while the England cricket team is fighting one of its biggest battles against Australia reeks of not having any national pride.

  • Ashes Loss reason 2:

Inept team selection and captaincy by Flintoff: There is a lot of criticism for Fletcher in the Ashes cricket series-but the person who has to cop the blame is always the captain - Mr. Freddie Flintoff. Not selecting Panesar for the first two tests against Australia in the Ashes cricket series reeked of a really flawed selection policy.Even in the fourth Ashes test,Flintoff obviously has a very low opinion of Panesar's bowling and gave him just 12 overs in Australia's 300+ run assault.

  • Ashes Loss reason 3:

The loss of confidence for Harmison: Harmison at his best is probably one of the best bowlers in world cricket- the images that we always remember are those of Harmison bouncing the cricket ball into the ribs of the Aussie batsmen in the 2005 Ashes cricket series. In the current Ashes 2006 in Australia,Harmison has been a shadow of his former self and seemed to be scared to put the cricket ball close to the Aussie batsmen

The good news for the England cricket team after the Ashes cricket series 2006:

The retirement of Shane Warne and McGrath is the best cricket news that England have heard for a really long time. With young players like Bell and Panesar in the team,England should hopefully have a better time in the next Ashes cricket series :-)
