cricket team finally played a great one day international to beat South
Africa to reach the semifinals of the ICC Champions trophy. No one has
really doubted the batting talents of the West Indies cricket team in
this ICC Champions Trophy- Lara,Powell,Chanderpaul,Sarwan and Gayle form
one of the most potent batting line-ups in the world today- all the more
surprising that the West Indies batting line-up has been doing so badly
in the last 2 years. Lara and Sarwan played carefully until the 30th
over and didnt panic even when the asking rate in this ICC Champions
Trophy quarter final jumped to almost 8 runs per over. Lara was finally
bowled to Boje but Sarwan and Chanderpaul played like champions and
finally the West Indian cricket team needed just 30 runs off 4 overs.
Then,the often underutilized Powell stepped in for the West Indies
cricket team in this ICC Champions trophy game. He slammed two
effortless sixes of Pollock to put the game in the pocket of the West
Indies cricket team.
For all West Indies fans, this win is a real source of pleasure- lets
just hope that the Caribbean magic returns and world cricket is treated
to more entertaining matches by the West Indies cricket team in this ICC
